100,000th swap!

Few years ago I joined the Swap-bot community, and my life changed.
I discovered new techniques, new crafts, new addicitions.
I met great people, I brought to life unexpected abilities, I started new collections, I got some incredible and unusual stuffs from all over the world.
Now that the 100,000th swap is running...I just had to join! I hope this will be the biggest swap ever and I hope that people won't flake!
HAPPY SWAPPING TO ALL!!!

ACID NEON ADDICTION

These pieces are supposed to be vintage lucite pendants. I'm not sure about their age, but I must admit that they remind me Jem and the Holograms...so I can't wait to use, and maybe this time to wear (I wear my stuff almost never!)These colors and shapes are just amazing...I will buy a lot more of these pendants :)

Feather headband

Once I used to have an unlikable phobia for feathers, and I used to think that they bring bad luck. Now that I've overtaken my fears, I'm using feather for my new hair accessories...here's my first feather headband!

Coming soon: mad hatter tea neklace :)

Necklace made with laser cut acrylic pendant, Japanese doll's miniatures with original Disney's design, glass beads, plastic beads, natural opaline rondelle

I'm wondering what's about that..

I took this picture during the vernissage of the Venice Biennale. It was June. This is an artwork of Urs Fisher, under the title "Illuminations". His work involves three 1:1 sized wax candle sculptures. The figures are self-destruct during the show.  In the picture you can see just 2 of the 3 candles, the third is (was?) an office's chair.
The impressive reproduction of "Il ratto delle Sabine" of Giambologna is probably still burning, by the way it was a 4 meters tall candle, but the "candle man"...?What's about it?I think it's over and I'm in some way sorry for that :(

Two months after visiting the Biennale I'm still thinking about what I saw and changing my mind every day about which was the best work exhibited, this is one of my fav so far, Urs Fisher is a great artist that perfectly understood how to deal with a temporary ad monumental event like the Biennale of Art: make something great, make something that goes along harmoniously with the space, make something that will wear out during the event. Great!

The Venice Biennale

Last week I had the pleasure to visit the Venice Biennale during the days of the official opening. Venice was breathtaking, as always, but the most beautiful thing I saw was the installation of Joana Vasconcelos, a Portoguese Artist that I can consider one of my top 5 Artists. ...to be continued...

Nest in a cage

Tired of the invasion of birds in a cage, but still in love with those cute cages (too mainstream, but so adorable!) I've filled the cage with a robin nest and a dangling Swarovski heart

a nest in a bottle

Last month I've ordered some beautiful nest tags with two small robin blue eggs, now I have 36 nests to use for my crafts! they are adorable...as I opened the package I've immediately tried to put a nest in a small glass bottle, but the tag was too big, so I had to adjust the tag and the nest to fit it in the bottle...and it works!

In the planning stage...and happy Valentine

It's quite a long time that I don't publish anything on this blog.
In the past two months I've been more concentrated on the projects of my accessories than the making.
I bought new materials, made drawings, searched in the web for royalities free images to use in my crafts, and I've deceided to create a special package for each of my piece of jewellery.
But now I feel the urge to work with my hands, use clay, resin, ribbons, needles and give form to everything I've got in mind!
I've had a crazy period at work and I still don't have the time I would like to have to finish my projects...
By the way I would like to thank the blog "The Graphics Fairy" for the image I'm posting today and for all the wonderful cliparts available on that lovely blog that has been very inspiring for my upcoming pieces.

Happy 2011!!!!

A new year has just begun, I wish this will be the most colorful, creative, kitch and successfull year ever!!!
To wish good things to me and to all, here's a pic of my Lakshmi pop necklace, that was a Christmas present I made for my friend.
Lakshmi protects everyone and give aboundance to all!!

I made the necklace with mixed media beads, both vintage than new. the pendant and components are silver tone and nickel and lad free, the image in the pendant is a traditional image of Lakshmi elaborated with Photoshop and turned in one part of a digital collage sheet.
After I cut out the oval I've attached it to the setting and finished with a magnifying glass.
